Download for debian

At the current point in time only debian packages build for debian sarge are available. This facilitates installation for those running debian serverly. The packages are platform independent and should run on any debian supported platform, though they were only tested on i386 and powerpc.

The complete catalogue application has been divided into several smaller packages. For a very basic system it is sufficient to install mmc-core only. It contains the underlying document management system and its default administration interface.

The MMC has been developed on postgresql but can also be used with MySQL. One of them must be installed if you prefer to run the database on the application server. Since the MMC uses php, it must be installed, too. You will also have to install the php4 hyperwave extension which is not available in the official debian repositories. Get a binary package from here (powerpc version, i386 version) or compile it from source yourself (orig.tar.gz, .diff.gz, .dsc).

Note when using PostgreSQL

The mmc-core package tries to configure the complete application including the database. This will only succeed if your database server has been setup properly before installing the mmc-core package. In most cases it should be sufficient to add a line like the following

		local mmc mmc password

to your pg_hba.conf. This will allow local connections from the user mmc on the database mmc by specifying a password. Make sure to use the same user and database name, and a non empty password when configuring the debian package. Do not forget to restart the PostgreSQL server to reload the modified configuration file.

A short description for each package will follow.

Note when using MySQL

Thought MySQL is a wide used database, it has some drawbacks like missing triggers and transactions, which makes it only the second choice for the MMC. Besides that, MySQL support in MMC is very young and not tested very well. It is not recommended to use MySQL in a production environment.
